Big boy

Lucas is THREE!!!

Weight: 29.5 lbs--------27.4%
Height: 38 inches-------54%

He is a healthy and happy little boy! He talks really well and talks a lot. He is learning his numbers and letters. He loves being social. He loves going to the library. He loves playing with his cousins and his friends. He never wants to leave places because he doesn't want to miss out. We have to sing him a song from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (Mr. Rogers' cartoon sequel) that says, "Choose one more thing to do and then it is time to go." We use lots of songs from that show to help Lucas. One song: "Grown ups come back" helps him go to nursery at church and have a babysitter. "When you're feeling mad and you want to roar, take a deep breath and count to four" is another gem.
Lucas loves Superheroes and Transformers. He is totally a boy. He loves turning anything into a gun. He loves trucks. He has lots of guys that he plays with, superheroes, rescue bots, and lego guys. He likes fighting and wrestling with other boys. He loves being outside, going to the park, and going on walks.
Lucas sleeps about 10-11 hours at night and still takes about a 2 hour nap. We have just started potty training. I read the book Potty Training in One Day. Since then he has been doing pretty well. And he is always so proud of himself when he does go. I tell him "I am so proud of you!" and he hugs me and says "I'm so proud of you too!" It is pretty funny.
We recently turned his crib (that still had the tent on it!) into a toddler bed. He is really proud of his bed and shows anyone that comes over. I was really worried that he would get out of it, but so far he stays put. He yells at us when he wakes up "Mommy, Daddy, I wake up!" At night he knows that he can only get out if he needs to use the potty. He usually yells out, "I need to go potty!" about 5 minutes after we already took him. We will work on that.
He is a great kid and makes us laugh. He knows how to entertain. We love you Lucas!

On the day of potty training, I wrapped a present of underwear (Superhero and Rescue Bots) and he opened it and was so pumped!

"These are my underwears!"

Ducky is always a good companion for him

His big boy bed! He is wearing a Bumblebee costume that he hasn't taken off all day.

Fall

"I'm so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers." --Anne of Green Gables

Fall is definitely my favorite season. We have great fall weather here. It has been in the 60s and sunny. There is a crispness in the air. The leaves are absolutely gorgeous. It has been fun to rake the leaves with the sole purpose of jumping in them.

He is packing for Grandma and Grandpa's here. As you can see the important stuff, his toys. He spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa's for the first time and did great!

After church on October 20, we went to walk around the temple. We were married there 7 years ago. It looked beautiful with the colors just like it did on our wedding day. The sky was blue as can be just like our wedding day too. On the way there we told Lucas that we got married there and he asked "And that is when you became mommy and daddy?"

I love this sequence of pictures: raking, running, jumping, and playing.

Playing in the leaves with friends. Lucas asked the other day if we could rake "and then our friends will come and play in the leaves with us." He loves playing with friends.

Wait, leaves are something that I can throw at other people?

Three years old!

Lucas' birthday was on Sunday. We had a good day as a family.
One of the traditions that Julie told us that she liked as a kid was that her mom would bring her a donut with a candle in it on her birthday. She said this made her feel special. I ran to the store late after Lucas' birthday party so that he could have a donut with candles in it for his birthday.

After church he got to open a couple more presents.

Rescue bots, Super Hero Squad chutes and ladders, Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. He loves it all!

Skyping with Julie

Growing so tall!

Can you find Lucas? On his birthday he wanted all the balloons in his room and then that turned into the balloons in his crib and boy, was it so fun! He loved every second and we did it each day for many days afterwards.

It was a good day. We love this little three year old. He is definitely growing up and is becoming a big boy. Happy birthday Lucas boy!

Birthday Party

We had a great birthday party for Lucas. It was Superhero themed and had tons of balloons. He loved having his cousins come over and play. He loved opening presents. It was good fun!

Windows full of balloons

Balloon drop

Goody fry bags with Superman capes

Lucas requested a chocolate cake. I freehanded the super hero logos on the cake.

Presents

He got excited about everything, even clothes

He had 3 sets of cousins give him 3 different Batman toys. He couldn't have been more excited. He was even wearing his Batman shirt

When his cousins came over, he wanted to put his Iron Man costume on

Here is the video of the balloon drop, it didn't end up exactly how we thought, but it was really fun. Lucas doesn't really know what to think.

What's up, Lucas?

Here I am playing catch up again on the blog. Here is a ton of pictures and a video of the cutest little boy!

High school football game

We found this jersey at the store and he was excited to try it on

We got an awesome bubble gun and it is so fun!

We watched a football game at the beginning of the season in our backyard with friends

Chuck E Cheese fun with his friend Brooklyn

Can you tell that this is his favorite?!

One day while friends were over I made this space ship for them to play in. It was a hit!

I found this costume for only $4 and since that is what Lucas said he wanted to be for Halloween I had to buy it. He has gotten $4 out of it for sure. He loves to wear it almost at least once a day.

Watching a movie on the big screen downstairs

Football game on the "jector" as Lucas calls it

Twice a year our church has a conference where we hear from our leaders. We tried to have lots of activities for Lucas to do. He loved finding the pictures of the Prophet and apostles as they were speaking.

We have been teaching Lucas the Prophet and apostle's names. He has done a pretty good job. It is fun to hear his little voice here:

"Just like Perry the Hotopus" (Perry the platypus)

It is a 2 day conference and he had done all of his activities and decided to become an angry bird

Always wants to help me

Iron Man combined with a motorcycle helmet = real fun

He is getting big! And I love these hand me down jammies from a cousin

We have a little photographer
