Lucas was asked to give the scripture in Primary and so we practiced all week with him. He was pretty excited to give his lessons with the hamper podium

His assignment was to say 1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.



Lucas was teaching us a lesson for our weekly Family Home Evening lesson:

He is a healthy and happy little boy! He talks really well and talks a lot. He is learning his numbers and letters. He loves being social. He loves going to the library. He loves playing with his cousins and his friends. He never wants to leave places because he doesn't want to miss out. We have to sing him a song from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (Mr. Rogers' cartoon sequel) that says, "Choose one more thing to do and then it is time to go." We use lots of songs from that show to help Lucas. One song: "Grown ups come back" helps him go to nursery at church and have a babysitter. "When you're feeling mad and you want to roar, take a deep breath and count to four" is another gem.
Lucas loves Superheroes and Transformers. He is totally a boy. He loves turning anything into a gun. He loves trucks. He has lots of guys that he plays with, superheroes, rescue bots, and lego guys. He likes fighting and wrestling with other boys. He loves being outside, going to the park, and going on walks.
Lucas sleeps about 10-11 hours at night and still takes about a 2 hour nap. We have just started potty training. I read the book Potty Training in One Day. Since then he has been doing pretty well. And he is always so proud of himself when he does go. I tell him "I am so proud of you!" and he hugs me and says "I'm so proud of you too!" It is pretty funny.
We recently turned his crib (that still had the tent on it!) into a toddler bed. He is really proud of his bed and shows anyone that comes over. I was really worried that he would get out of it, but so far he stays put. He yells at us when he wakes up "Mommy, Daddy, I wake up!" At night he knows that he can only get out if he needs to use the potty. He usually yells out, "I need to go potty!" about 5 minutes after we already took him. We will work on that.
He is a great kid and makes us laugh. He knows how to entertain. We love you Lucas!


On the day of potty training, I wrapped a present of underwear (Superhero and Rescue Bots) and he opened it and was so pumped!

2 Years Old!

Lucas is 2 years old now!
He is 25.3 lbs----15%
And he is 34.5 inches----53%

His language is really picking up right now. I think that the trip to Minnesota and Indiana really helped because we stayed with our friends that both have 3 year old boys. He learned a lot from playing with them. Our favorite thing that he now says is "appreciate it." It is super cute. He loves repeating the things that we say.
He still loves Buzz and Shrek. He now really likes Despicable Me, Robots, and Puss in Boots too. It is good that we can have more of an assortment.
He loves playing with his cousins and friends. He likes calling them "kids" or "guys." We went to a little baby shower for my sister in law and he got so excited when he saw his 3 year old cousin. He also loves looking at the new baby and holds out his hands to hold him. He will be a great older brother when the time comes.
He eats almost anything that we give him. I made some curry the other night and he loved it. He loves eating celery, cooked or raw. And he loves broccoli.
Lucas has still been climbing out of crib and thinks that he is so great, but then the moment he sees us, he knows that he wasn't supposed to get out.
He is a great kid and we love watching him grow up. I can't believe that he is already 2! I am hoping that the terrible twos aren't real or too bad for him.

18 months old!

This little guy is 18 months old. He is getting so big. We went to the doctor today and he really does not like the nurse. I guess he knows that she is mean and gives him shots. He likes the doctor though. He is healthy and doing really well. He had to get one shot today and was really sad about it. But there are no more shots for him for quite awhile so that is good.

He is not talking yet. The other day the pantry was open and he was pointing at it. I was trying to figure out what he wanted and he was saying something. When I finally picked up the juice I realized that is what he said. The next day Ryan was trying to get him to say it and he said it. So I guess that juice is his first word. He will shake his head for no and lately has been nodding his head and saying "SSSS" for yes(ssss). It is pretty good. For not being able to talk he does communicate pretty well with us. He points to some of his body parts like head, hair, nose, toes, tummy, eyes when we say those things. He is climbing all over. He can know get onto our tall chairs and the coffee table and can almost get onto the couch. He has started loving to watch Sesame street. He likes Elmo. He has recently gone to one nap a day. I was kind of not wanting that, but it has turned out to be pretty good because he sleeps in later now and most days sleeps longer in the afternoon. Lucas has 16 teeth now and loves getting his teeth brushed. After he drinks his milk at night I say to him "Time to brush your teeth" and he runs to the bathroom and makes faces in the mirror as I give him his fluoride and brush his teeth.

Lucas is a very happy boy. Now that it is spring (finally!) we go on walks and go to the park and he loves being outside. He gets so sad when we have to go inside. He loves looking at birds and dogs. He thinks dogs are the best thing ever. And he likes to chase after the birds.

Sick boy

Lucas was sick last week and it was the first time that he has been really sick. He had a high fever for a few days. He was cuddled basically the whole time he was awake and didn't want to be put down. We took him to the doctor to see what was going on. He didn't have any kind of infection so we kept treating him with tylenol and motrin. Luckily the fever came down and he slowly returned back to his normal self. It is nice to have him back, but it was sweet how he just wanted to cuddle.

One day I needed to get up and when I came back this is how I found him with his remote:

15 months old!

15 months and another check up at the doctor and 3 more shots.

There was a different nurse at the doctor's today and Lucas did not like her from the start. He got really sad when she was measuring and weighing him. He was really happy when she left. While we waited for the doctor he "jumped" off the table into my arms and loved it. He liked the doctor until he had to lay down on the table. He is healthy and happy. When the nurse came back in he started crying before he was even put on the table, but the shots were not so fun. He did pretty well considering that he skipped his morning nap.

Lucas is getting so big. Some days we look at him and think that he grew overnight. He is not saying any words yet, but he sure understands a lot. He grabs his jacket when he sees us put on ours. He was really sad when Ryan was leaving and Lucas got his jacket, but he wasn't going. He loves taking out all the pots and pans and will play with them for a long time. He only likes me putting him to bed. Sometimes Ryan tries to put him down for bed but he will just reach for the door and wait for me to put him down. The other day I was gone at night and thought that since I wasn't there he would go down for Ryan, but that was not the case. Ryan gave him his milk, read him stories, and sang him songs just like I do, but Lucas was not having it. He finally brought him back downstairs and Lucas just stood at the garage door waiting for me to come home. We are really trying to get him to learn that Daddy can put him to bed too. We will keep trying. He has 12 teeth and I haven't noticed any new ones coming in lately.

He is a happy baby and we are so grateful to have him in our family. Ryan was sick the other day and Lucas just cuddled with him, it was so sweet. He makes us so happy everyday and we love him so much. We have a few videos that we need to post showing his personality and he got his first haircut this week. I will post pictures from that soon.

12 months old

Lucas had a fun time playing at the doctor's office today. He really loves looking at himself. Here are his stats:

Weight: 17lbs 15oz---------1% He is almost to 18lbs!

Height: 29.5inches---------41%

Head Circ: 17 1/4inches----12-13%

He is still a little guy, but still on the scale and growing at the same rate. He sounded and looked healthy. We are happy that this whole year he has only needed to go to the doctor for his wellness checks (knock on wood). He has only had a little cold, but other than that not sick (knock on wood again). We have been blessed. He had to get 4 shots and he did not like that one bit. He was trying to kick the nurse and get away from her. He calmed down pretty quickly and then we came home and he immediately fell asleep. I hope he doesn't feel sad when he wakes up.

He is cruising around holding onto things, but hasn't yet tried to take steps. He doesn't stand for very long without holding onto something, but I am sure that in no time he will be walking. We are still trying to teach him how to go down the stairs backwards. He still tries to get into everything. I put some child proof locks on some of the cabinets and he is so mad that he can't open them. He has been flexing his muscles and he squeezes his hands and his neck gets all tense. It is really funny. He is a sweet boy who loves cuddling with his stuffed animals especially his yellow ducky and yellow lamb. He sleeps well, eats a ton, and is a happy little guy.
